Job Title: Graduate Research Mentor (Remote, Part-Time, $60 - $75/hr)
Time Commitment:
- Minimum of 1 hour/week ($600 - $750 for 10 weeks)
- Potential: Up to 3 hours/week (~$2,250+ over the 10 weeks) if you’re a good fit.
Overview:
We are hiring graduate students and researchers to mentor high school students on independent research projects. This is a fun, low-commitment way to make a meaningful impact, perfect if you only have an hour to spare each week and like mentoring.
For those with more availability, there’s also potential for this to expand into a part-time role over the summer (10–20 hours/week).
As a mentor, you’ll meet virtually with motivated students, help them explore technical topics, guide them through the research process, and provide regular feedback on their progress.
What You'll Do:
- Guide motivated students through a structured research project (literature review, problem formulation, implementation, and presentation)
- Meet with students weekly (usually 1–10 hours/week depending on project stage)
- Provide feedback on project direction and technical approach
- Support students in developing critical thinking, coding, and writing skills
Requirements:
- Enrolled in or recently graduated with a Master’s, PhD, or other graduate program
- Prior research experience (academic, lab, or industry) highly preferred
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for mentorship
- Comfortable working with high school/early college students in a virtual setting
