About the Organization

Hope for Youth & Families is a nonprofit program that supports students in Springfield, MA, through evidence-based literacy instruction. Hope Literacy uses the Science of Reading to help students build strong foundational skills and confidence as readers.

About the Role

The Literacy Intern will support our summer reading program for middle school students. Interns work closely with experienced educators, support small-group literacy instruction, and gain hands-on experience using research-based reading strategies.

This role is ideal for students interested in education, literacy, child development, psychology, or social justice–focused work.

What You’ll Do

• Participate in training on the Science of Reading and Hope Literacy curriculum
• Support small-group and one-on-one literacy instruction
• Assist with classroom management and student engagement
• Prepare and organize instructional materials
• Observe and document student progress
• Collaborate with educators and program staff

Optional (as available):

• Support program research, data organization, or curriculum materials

Who Should Apply
