Job Scope & Internship Overview
Position Summary
The IT Support Intern will support the day-to-day operations of the IT department by providing first-line technical assistance to staff and end users. This role offers hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing support tickets, and learning enterprise IT support processes in a real-world business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to and resolve helpdesk tickets in a timely manner, escalating complex issues to senior IT staff as needed
- Provide first-line support for hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
- Assist with the setup, configuration, and deployment of workstations, laptops, and peripherals
- Support user account administration, including password resets and access requests
- Maintain accurate documentation of issues, resolutions, and support procedures
- Assist with IT inventory tracking and equipment maintenance
- Help maintain a clean and organized helpdesk/IT workspace
- Participate in special projects as assigned, such as system upgrades or process improvements
Required / Preferred Skills
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows required; Mac a plus), and common software applications
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Customer-service mindset with patience when working with non-technical users
- Coursework or demonstrated interest in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
