Seeking talent. The Boys and Girls Club of Greater New Bedford is seeking talented people in computer science/digital arts, dance, the martial arts, music, athletics to share their passions with youth (7-17). Be prepared to share a portfolio or samples of your skills and show a willingness to grow that talent. 

Tech (Digital Music & Art)

Presently, we offer 45-1:30 min classes in video game programming and coding music & art in Scratch, Sonic Pi, Processing, and Python. We would like to offer more game design/programming classes in Roblox, Minecraft+Python, Unity or other 3D engine. We have a vector art program and use Inkscape. The svg files are used as sprites for games, graphic designs, t-shirt prints, 3D models, and laser cutting/engraving. We use TinkerCAD for 3D modeling, but are looking to offer more intense courses (e.g. Blender). We are also looking to run programs in animation. For digital music, we have MIDI keyboards and use Garageband and bandlab.

 

Athletics 

We offer clinics, training in most sports and are always looking for coaches (soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, etc), conditioning coaches (we have a dedicated space for strength & conditioning), and the martial arts. 

 

Dance

We have a studio and would like to offer more classes in multiple styles (from cheer to stepping to specific genres like hip hop, jazz, tap, etc)

 

Other

Chess players, hair and make-up artists, theater… whatever your passion, we can probably create something around that. 

Overall Objectives of position of Youth Counselor: to be responsible for providing leadership and supervision for assigned children of the afterschool and/or summer activities.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of participants of various ages from a variety of physical and behavioral backgrounds.
  • Supervise members while participating in indoor and outdoor activities i.e. games, arts & crafts, educational and cultural activities, field trips, short hikes, sports, and other daily activities.
  • Maintain a good relationship with members, parents, the general public and other staff members.
  • Assist Director of Operations/Assistant Executive Director and/or in planning, implementing and carrying out of daily activities. May be asked to track and assess outcomes through periodic activity reports.
  • Inspect work area for safety concerns and report to Director of Operations/Assistant Executive Director.
  • Ensure that all members are following policies.
  • Must fully inform the Director of Operations/Assistant Director of any possible problems relating to program and/or participants.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $15.00 - $40.00 per hour

Schedule:

 

  • After school 2:30-6
  • Monday to Friday
