Commercial Sales Intern

Goal: Provide Intern with real-life work experience in Zapp Precision Strip’s Commercial Department.

Responsibilities:  Support execution of Commercial departments business goals by performing assigned duties which are not limited to the following:

  • Actively seek learning opportunities, engage in training sessions, and participate in mentorship programs to develop sales skills, industry knowledge, and professional growth.
  • Develop a working understanding of Commercial, business-to-business practices to provide Industrial Products, specifically Metal – Precision Strip to the marketplace.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, logistics, technical services, and quality to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of service and product to our customers.
  • Learn a basic understanding of what Zapp Precision Strip’s product & service offerings are and how our customers use them.
  • Shadowing members of the Sales department as they perform their duties including but not limited to:  
    • *Exposure to Zapp’s sales process which is focused on identifying and resolving our customer’s problems 
    • Learn our various customer support processes and procedures and work with both internal and external customers to refine and improve these processes and procedures to insure “best of class” experience by our external customers.  
    • Support New Customer initiatives by prospecting and lead generation activities, including identifying and qualifying potential clients, conducting outreach campaigns, and organizing prospect databases.  
    • Provide updates or assistance on customer orders and shipping status
  • Support Commercial team’s system support needs including but not limited to updating metrics, forecasting, market research (Customer, Product, Application, Competition) 
  • Competitor/Market), planning & strategy development, maintaining contact lists and communication development.
  • Providing administrative support, when needed, within the Commercial department.
  • Shadow and support Account Managers to learn how to interact with customers including some local travel to participate in customer meetings and plant tours.

Qualifications:

  • Effective communication skills which include verbal and written
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients
  • Knowledge of the metal recycling industry is a plus
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and eager to learn and contribute to Team success
