CR Corps Industry Ambassador

Position Description Name: CRCorps Industry Ambassador (AmeriCorps Member)
Service Site: Must be a student at either Arapahoe Community College or Community College of Denver in Denver, Colorado

  • Term Date: Feb 26, 2024- Aug 30, 2024
  • Stipend: $13, 376 for 24.5 week period
  • Education Award: $2,626.27

Expected Population Served:
CRCorps Industry Ambassadors will serve the population of community college students and Denver communities by providing engagement, support and resources to enhance their educational and professional development. Ambassadors will collaborate with community college recruiters, faculty, and industry partners to develop and implement engagement strategies and workshops that address the specific needs of the students and prospective students, such as college enrollment, career exploration, job readiness, and workforce networking. They will also establish partnerships with local businesses and industry leaders to share information with students and communities on employment opportunities in high-demand sectors and skills needed to access these economic opportunities. Through their dedication and commitment, CRCorps Industry Ambassadors will empower communities, community college students and workforce industry partners to thrive and succeed in their educational pursuits, career aspirations, and talent needs.

About Campus Compact & College Renaissance Corps:
College Renaissance Corps (CRCorps) is a new national leadership program rooted in service that empowers community college students in high-demand fields to break barriers and become leaders in the workplace and their communities. 

Through CRCorps, students have the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, build transferable career skills, and serve as examples of how to thrive in the workforce with a community college education. Our program is laser-focused on working with next-generation workforce sectors critical to local and national economies, including logistics, manufacturing, healthcare, and tech. 

Campus Compact is a national coalition of colleges and universities committed to the public purposes of higher education. As the only national higher education association dedicated solely to higher education civic and community engagement, Campus Compact enables higher education institutions to develop students’ citizenship skills and forge effective community partnerships. Our resources support senior administrators, faculty, staff, and students as they pursue community-based teaching, scholarship, and action in the service of positive change.

About the Position
The CRCorps Industry Ambassador (AmeriCorps Member) is part of a highly collaborative team that is responsible for a variety of capacity-building activities that comply with the terms and conditions of Campus Compact (CRCorps’ program sponsor) and the AmeriCorps Corporation. This is an AmeriCorps State and National position. Under the direct supervision of the CRCorps Denver Program Manager the CRCorps Industry Ambassador is responsible for the following outcomes:

  1. Enhance campus-community partnerships by fostering and strengthening collaborations between the college campus and workforce industry partners, leading to meaningful engagement and joint efforts to address local challenges.
  2. Increase enrollment and retention in critical academic programs by supporting efforts to recruit and retain individuals in academic programs that are vital to critical industries, resulting in a higher number of students pursuing careers in these sectors.
  3. Improve career readiness for peers by providing career exploration resources, workshops, and mentoring to help students develop the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence for successful entry into critical industries.
  4. Contribute to local impact and community solutions by addressing economic and college access challenges and preparing individuals to enter academic programs and careers in critical industries, thereby positively impacting the lives of both individuals and the broader community.
  5. Increase awareness and engagement by highlighting careers in critical industries, encouraging more individuals to pursue these pathways, and fostering community support for such initiatives.
  6. Increase brand visibility and engagement through strategic social and digital media outreach by implementing effective social and digital media outreach strategies, resulting in the organization’s enhanced reputation, public awareness about our mission and programs, and ultimately attracting more support and involvement from the community.

Qualifications​: 

  1. Pursuing a degree in a related academic program at Arapahoe Community College or Community College of Denver
  2. Minimum Certificate Level 1 or one year into the corresponding degree program
  3. A demonstrated interest in AmeriCorps and/or other national service programs
  4. Interest in developing skills around social and digital media marketing
  5. Strong initiative and personal integrity with demonstrated ability to work independently to implement innovative ideas, identify and resolve day-to-day program problems, as well as work collaboratively with a team of peers and supervisors
  6. Ability to attend workshops, meetings, and events that meet specific programmatic goals and service-designated target audiences
  7. Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking skills
  8. Strong organizational and documentation skills
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, administrators, community-based agencies/groups, and the public

Essential Criteria

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to communicate effectively with students, higher education faculty and staff, professionals working in nonprofit and general education settings, and various segments of the public
  2. Excellent follow-through and time management skills 
  3. Ability to effectively build relationships with a wide variety of constituents, including first-year students and their families, peer leaders/mentors, human service professionals, academic advisors, faculty members, and organization leaders 
  4. Strong computer skills, including the ability to effectively use email, spreadsheets, databases, word processing software, and data analysis software 
  5. Strong conflict management and organizational skills, paired with solid judgment

Requirements 

  1. HS Diploma or equivalent experience
  2. US Citizen or legal permanent resident
  3. Must be able to complete federal background check
  4. As part of the service, the AmeriCorps member will participate in training and professional development with fellow AmeriCorps members in the CRCorps cohort. Roughly 10-15 percent of the member’s time will be devoted to professional development.
  5. Be a licensed driver and have access to a personal vehicle, or public transportation.
  6. Pursuing a 2-year degree in a related academic program
  7. Minimum Certificate Level 1 or one year into the corresponding degree program
  8. A demonstrated interest in AmeriCorps and/or other national service programs

The Campus Compact CRCorps Industry Ambassador / Member is a part-time (22 hours per week), non-exempt position. It is an end-date position subject to renewal based on funding availability and incumbent performance. The work requires local travel.
