Monte Rosa Therapeutics is seeking passionate Co-op in Software Development and BioInformatics to help us to eliminate disease causing proteins through targeted protein degradation–a novel and exciting way of drugging proteins that until recently were considered un-druggable. The candidates will gain hands-on experience within a particular area of interest in an early-stage drug discovery environment. You will work with an industry leader who will direct and mentor you on your project, as well as expose you to other drug discovery projects and involve you in the process of solving complex biological questions. You will be joining a diverse, thoughtful, fun and collaborative environment that emphasizes teamwork and putting people first!
If you have an interest in working on the projects the following areas, we will give you hands on educational experience within a high paced drug discovery environment.
- Assit in design discussions to translate business use cases into technical requirements and helping to design solutions to meet those requirements
- Assist in the design, implemention, and deployment of internal software applications. These applications involve both front and backend development, internal and external APIs, data and bioinformatic pipelines, all hosted on cloud infrastructure (AWS).
- Evolve and enhance our internal search application by developing a natural language interface that leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance query understanding and result accuracy.
- These enhancements aim to significantly improve the accessability and efficiency of data retrieval allowing users to obtain information through conversational human-like interactions with our application.
- Facilitate enhanced decision-making and research efficiency by providing quick and accurate answers to intricate questions regarding our compounds and research data.
Qualifications:
- Our preference is for a student currently in a Master degree program in Data Sciences, BioInformatics, or Computer Science with an interestin a life science
- Enthusium for exploring the intersection of software and data engineering, data science and life scicnes to develop innovative applications that accelerate the drug discovery process.
- Experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages (such as Python, Java, Scala, or Go)
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to software development within a team environment.
- Openness to acquiring new skills in software design and architecture.
- Familiarity with coding practices and principles, with a willingness to develop skills in writing clean, maintainable and testable code as well as designing effective APIs.
- Experience or interest in the design and implementation of high-quality scalable and extendable software architectures.
- Familiarity or a desire to learn cloud computing services (Experience with AWS serverless technologies (Lambda, SQS, SNS, Amplify, AppSync, DynamoDB, Cloudformation etc )
