Title:  Seasonal Civil Engineering Intern

Location:  Billerica Town Offices, 365 Boston Road, Billerica MA 01821,

Length of Internship:  April to August 2024

Hours/Rate of Pay:

·       8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday, excluding Holidays

·       Up to 37.5 hours/week

·       $17.50/hour

Candidate will work directly with the Engineering Division staff on various projects throughout the Town of Billerica including tasks related to compliance with EPA’s NPDES Stormwater Phase 2 program and permits (including field work).

Minimum Qualifications:

·       Knowledge of Engineering concepts.

·       Ability to read various types of civil engineering site plans.

·       Driver’s License

·       Own transportation to/from the office

·       Be prepared to spend some time in the field (requires appropriate field boots).

·       Must carry own insurance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include but not be limited to:

·       Assist the Engineering Staff with various engineering projects.

·       Assist the pavement project manager with their roadway projects.

·       Assist with data entry of our digital files.

·       Assist with the requirements of the Stormwater Management Program, this may involve:

o   Locate drain maps either electronically or manually by reviewing through files

o   Scanning plans

o   GPS mapping of drainage structures

o   Some field verification of drainage structures

o   Inspecting drainage features and outfalls

o   Testing outfalls for pollutants  

·       Provide periodic progress reports to Engineers
