Tax Intern – Accounting Firm
Fernandes & Charest, P.C. is a certified public accounting firm located in Westport, Massachusetts that is seeking an accounting intern to provide tax and accounting services to our clients in various industries. You will utilize your accounting educational background and internship experience to assist in all stages of an engagement or project; most commonly tax return preparation for entities and individuals, bookkeeping for engagements, basic tax issues, and provide support to other team members.
Responsibilities:
Expand industry knowledge through greater exposure to peers, clients, regular self-study, and formal training opportunities
- Gain experience, exposure, and knowledge of tax procedures, workpapers, and technology
- Work with team members to collect necessary information for tax return completion
- Support multiple client engagements on time and within budget, identifying issues and communicating progress
- Assist with the detail work of reviews, compilations, and other assurance services for clients
- Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and other types of tax returns
- Record bookkeeping journal entries and reconcile account balances
- Complete research and special projects as needed
The ideal candidate possesses the following:
- Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn new technologies
- Reliable transportation to office
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office products.
- Ability to multi-task, think independently and problem solve in a result driven, team-oriented environment
